Try before you buy Free Fibres, a free service at Wentworth

February 2012 Information
For the month of February we are not able to offer the free sampling service as we will be running short staffed. Ruth and Alan will be away in Australia and New Zealand meeting up with suppliers and viewing new products.
As we like to offer personal attention to customers when sampling we feel we have to suspend the service for the month.
Normal free sampling service will resume in March. The rest of the business will function as normal .

It really is free fibres !!!

A full sampling day, days , or an hour or two, using any of our fibres for free. Come on your own or with a group of friends.

Free fibres and equipment for spinning or feltmaking. We believe we offer the best quality materials and are willing to let you come and sample them free of charge. There is no obligation to make any purchases. We also provide tea and coffee free of charge.

Its a great idea for a group of friends to have a spinning or feltmaking sampling retreat by combining it with a stay at one of our cottages just 1 mile away in Elsecar.

We dont give any tuition so you need to know how to spin or felt. For beginners its an easy way to get to know about fibres. We do give advice on the use of fibres as we know a bit about them having been spinning and felting for the last 40 years

 Just come and try out any of our stock of fibres by hand felting or spinning with no need to buy anything. You are invited to come and have a full day, or a few hours, at Wentworth working with any of our fibres. We have a vast range, which no doubt you have found in this web site, for you to come and sit and spin or make felt samples with.

We do not give any tuition with the try before you buy. If testing out spinning wheels we will offer some advice on the different models. We can also offer advice on the felting properties of fibres.

Tuition if required can be provided for a small group on any aspects of spinning as part of a sampling session. Please contact us to discuss times and costs

 

 

 

 

 

 Any samples made can be taken away free of charge..

If you wish to take up the offer please contact us to arrange a time. If you want to try a particular wheel let us know so that we ensure we have models available.

We have a 12ft x 15ft glasshouse/classroom with the same area of shaded decking on which to work when we have Summer weather. Adjacent we have our equipment display room. On display and ready for use is the range of Ashford and Kromski wheels and looms. Ashford drum carders and Janome needle punch machine

The work area is a comfortable space for a group of 4-6 to work in (or one person who needs a lot of space!).

We provide drink making facilities with free tea and cofffee. There are various places to eat for lunch and evenings in the village.

If you want to make a group visit we are able to offer accommodation. Just 1 mile away in Elsecar village we have two cottages at Distillery Side.

Chivas Cottage which sleeps 4/5 in 3 bedrooms. Fully equiped for self catering and 10 Distillery Side which sleeps 3 in 2 bedrooms
Great for a spinning or felting retreat, working with fibres all day then relaxing in front of the fire at night. You can even continue working in the cottage after a day at Wentworth. In Chivas Cottage we have a utility laundry room equiped with sink, hob and microwave for felting or dyeing.
10 Distillery Side is not quite as big but there is space for felting and dyeing. Both cottages have sheltered gardens for those rare warm Summer evenings.
