All the wheels can be tried out at Wentworth where they are on display. We will give advice and demonstrations on the various types of wheel.
If you are planning to visit Wentworth to purchase and get advice about wheels and equipment please telephone us first. We have all the items in stock and can sell them to you but a few times a year we do not have anyone who can demonstrate as they are all out at workshops. It does not happen often but we do not want you dissapointed that there is no one here to demonstrate.
Please Note: Kromski goods are not available to buy through the shopping cart. Please contact us directly to place your order. We will then send you a Quotation Invoice with all the costs included. If then you wish to continue with the purchase a secure payment link is provided.
No further discounts are available on Kromski products. We do not export any Kromski products to the USA
Choosing a wheel
If you search the web you will no doubt come across thousands of words of discussion on which is the best wheel. We have chosen to sell the Ashford and Kromski ranges for the simple reason that they do the job, cost a reasonable amount and have good spares support from the makers. There are many other makes available which work equally well.
Many comments are made about beginners wheels, personally I dont think there is any such thing from a reputable maker. Some less knowledgeable spinners will try and suggest that a wheel is only good for beginners. Be wary of any advice given by anyone, always ask the question why? In the world of spinning years of spinning do not always equate with good advice. As a comparison there are are persons who have been car drivers for a lifetime but are terrifying to be a passenger with.
If a wheel is sold as a beginners wheel it is not worth having
as it will be so limited in use as to be worthless. Any good make will have the ability to spin most types of yarn with the added features of being able to add extras if required. I would stress the "if
" as most spinners are quite content with the standard model they buy. Spinning wheels are much like cars, all of them work. Basic cars do the same job as executive cars
all the executive car has is a higher level of finish
with lots of extra bits
which may never be used. A high price does not guarantee better performance.
The technical differences of wheels is also well documented. Decide in what you want to spin, that is thickness and type of fibres. If you want to go thick either select a large oriface or the ability to fit a larger flyer. If you you are staying with "normal" thicknesss yarns the standard set up will probably be OK. Dont get too tied up with technicalities that you will never use.
Fantasia
The most recent addition to the Kromski series of wheels sees a slightly different design brief. As you'll see, in the past all Kromski wheels have kept to very traditional styling and decoration, from the woods used to the turning and decoration of each componant.
With the Fantasia things are a bit different, without compromising on any of the skill or craftsmanship which have made Kromski equipment so popular throughout the world.

Sonata
The Sonata is a full-size spinning wheel that folds and packs away making it perfect for taking around. This is a full size wheel that is simple to set-up. All parts are made form solid timber turned and moulded to give the classic look. The double treadle gives easy treadling with one or both feet,
The positioning of the flyer is at normal working height and of conventional design. Being fully supported at each end there is no possibility of accidental damage occuring in use. This design also allows the quick change to a jumbo large oriface flyer which is available as an extra as well as a high speed flyer.
The specially designed carry bag makes transportation easy, pack away time is less than 5 mins. Then the bag allows you to carry it by hand or as backpack as a nicely balanced load. This is one of the very few folding wheels that when in use looks like a normal wheel. For those who want portability with traditional wheel design this is the one to have.
Compare these features with any folding wheel being sold and the Sonata has a better specification, then compare prices and see what a great deal the Kromskis offer.

Minstrel
The Minstrel is setting a new standard for castle style wheels. It features a wide, steady base for the double treadle and wheel, which is larger than many uprights at 18". The wheel is easy to mount on the two support posts - the third post will mount an optional distaff.
Larger than the Mazurka, the Minstrel has stronger, bolder lines and a larger base to accommodate the larger wheel. It is a double drive wheel, but comes standard with Scotch tension set-up if you prefer the single drive feel. A threading hook and extra whorl are conveniently stored up front for easy access. The design is traditional European, the wheel with the additional stub spokes gives it classic looks and adds to the mass of the wheel to make treadling easy. The whole thing is well balanced and easy to move around having a sturdy frame.
A Jumbo Flyer conversion kit is now available for this wheel. It may require a small amount of woodwork to carry out the conversion on older wheels. It is designed to work with the very newest output from the Kromski factorY.
The Minstrel is made of European alder and birch.
- Wheel diameter - 46cm (18")
- Orifice height - 82cm (26")
- Bobbin size - 4 oz., 3 included

Prelude
The Prelude has the look of an antique wheel, with the high degree of wood turning which the Kromskis are famous for. However, it also has all the little touches that the modern spinner expects. We class this wheel as semi transportable as it has the feature of being able to turn the mother of all in line with the frame to make an easy to carry package. If you want a wheel that does everything, takes very little space and is easily carried this does the job.
The Prelude is a single drive Scotch tension wheel. The drive band is self adjusting plastic for ease of use.
The Prelude is easy to treadle , easy to transport and has an 18" diameter wheel (the same size as the Minstrel) for excellent ratios. If you like you can spin the mother-of-all in line with the bench for a more compact package when moving the wheel. This shown in the close up of the stained wheel
The Prelude is made of European alder and birch.
This is the first single drive Scotch tension wheel produced by the Kromskis. It takes the standard bobbins of all the wheel range.
Jumbo flyer unit available as an optional add on.
- Wheel diameter - 40cm (18")
- Orifice height - 26"
- Bobbin size - 4 oz., 3 included
- Drive - Single drive with Scotch tension
- Ratios - 6 / 10.5 / 13-1
- Weight - 4 kilos (9lbs)
- Brass bush bearings on wheel shaft and bobbins. Leather bearings are used on the flyer

Polonaise
This wheel shows all the design features of a classic Sandinavian/Baltic wheel. It is a big wheel which we would suggest is not really suitable for moving around in the car. It would add a graceful feature to any spinner who has the floor space for it. The design is faithful to wheels of the region having the correct functioning adjustments. For a wheel of this class the price really should be much more.
The Polonaise features functional wood threaded wheel angle adjustments so the proper angle can be obtained with the flyer. Many wheels appear to have this feature but it often does not work and is only decorative. The Polonaise is fully functional.
“Pin and socket” bearings support the wheel, offering low friction and exceptional ease of treadling. All of the wheel hardware sits between the wheel posts and the footman passes through the bench to the treadle.
The Polonaise is made with European alder and birch and comes standard with double drive and scotch tensioning.
• Wheel diameter - 24"
• Orifice height - 25" size - 3/8"
• Bobbin size 4oz. 3 included
• also includes threading hook, tensioned Kate
• Ratios: 8, 12, 16 and 20 to 1; 2 whorls included
• Bearings on bobbins and treadle; leather bearings on flyer
• Weight - 7.25kg (16lbs)

Symphony
The Symphony is just the image you would expect a spinning wheel to take.
This wheel has the detail spinners have come to expect from Kromski products - lots of finely turned wood, attention to detail and all the features spinners have asked for. Start with a good size wheel diameter, 60 cm (24") which rotates on bearing sleeves, giving effortless treadling. The double treadles are well engineered to be comfortable through long spinning sessions. The flyer is double drive but also has Scotch tensioning for single drive users
The double treadle system gives greater comfort when spinning for a long time, also provides more control over the wheel. If so desired the wheel will still operate using one treadle.
Jumbo flyer unit now available
The Symphony is made of European alder and birch.
- Wheel diameter - 60cm (24")
- Height to orifice - 27"
- Orifice diameter - 3/8"
- Ratios - 7.5 / 10 / 16 / 20-1. Two whorls included
- Weight - 15lbs
