We are very excited to have organised two days with Richard Ashford in Wentworth on the 1st and 2nd April to run 2 days of demonstrations, discussions and wheel servicing. The format of the two days will be identical. You can if you wish book for the two days but they will essentially be the same.
Richard, Kate and David Herring will be demonstrating the full range of Ashford equipment for the 2 days. Support will also be given by the Wingham Wool Work team. These are demonstration and hands on session so it would be advisable to bring your own wheel or loom if possible. They do not have to be Ashford models but free advice and servicing will only be given for Ashford products.
We will provide fibres for you to card and sample spin, yarns for rigid heddle weaving and other bits and pieces for use free of charge
There will be a series of demonstrations to start each day. These will cover :
- Use of all the wheels, all of the models will be on display. How to fit optional extras to the wheels
- Rigid Heddle looms and the the quick warping method. Use of the second heddle block and pick up sticks
- Use of the Ashford drum carders with the packing brush attachment. Special demonstrations will be given of the new Wild carder and its use for the production of Art yarns.
- Use of the new design Wild flyer for use on the Joy wheel
- Demonstration of a new 8 shaft table loom, this product has yet to be put on the market.
- Servicing of wheels, bring your wheel for a free tune up. Any parts required will be charged for.
After the domonstrations you will be able to try out all of the equipment. Have a go with the rigid heddle looms. Try out drum carding Wild mixes and spinning art yarns with assistance from Ruth Gough. Get your wheel checked by Richard and autographed, ask him any questions about the products.
Sale of Equipment
At the end of the 2 days all equipment used during the days will be up for sale to those who have attended. To be fair to all persons we will be inviting sealed bids for the items.
