White Wools

The wools on this page are naturally white or cream coloured. They are all suitable for both spinning and feltmaking.

All these wools are combed for us from selected high quality wool. The fleeces are hand sorted and the best parts only are used to make the combed tops. We think our natural wools are the best available. When looking at combed wools always compare price and quality. There are lower quality fibres being sold as not all combing lots are the same.

We make carded batts from any of the wool tops listed below. The minimum weight is 500gms. The cost will be the listed price of all the tops use in the blend plus £2.50. Please contact us for further information. For dyed wool batts have a look at the batts page.

If you fancy trying a combed blend of any of these fibres we will put them together for you, minimum order would be 500gms and price would depend on the mixture, contact us to discuss your needs

Tops and Roving. A confusion occurs in the use of these two terms. In the UK a top is wool that has been carded and combed and is usually about thick rope diameter. A Roving is the next stage on where the top has been drawn out to about pencil thickness and is the stage before spinning takes place. There is a tendency in the USA to call tops rovings and cause confusion with the UK description.

All the combed wools can be converted into carded batts approx 6ft by 2ft at a charge of £2.50 per 500gms. Please contact us for more details.
