Blending Service

Using our on-site machinery we can now create a blend that is unique to you. Famous designers to home spinners have used this service and have been very pleased with the results, we hope you will be too. We are always willing to try out new blends, so whatever you have in mind it's worth giving us a try.

We use nice old Yorkshire built gill boxes to comb the blends together. (Prince Smith and Stells intersecting autoleveller gill boxs early 1960's vintage) These machines are not the fastest but they do treat the fibres much more gently than the modern types of machine. We use a fine set toothed comb system to get a thorough blend to avoid the stringy look that faster heavy toothed machines can create. Normally we work to 2 passes through the machine as we have found that this does not over mix the blend as further blending occurs when the fibres are being used. For an additional charge we can on request give further passes through to create a greater blending effect.

Unfortunately its a fact that certain fibres simply won't blend or don't produce the desired results, though these are in the minority. If we agree to try a blend which we find doesn't work due to technical problems then you will not be charged. This is rare but does occasionally happen.

The cost of this service is usually the price of the fibres + £2.50 / 500gms. This charge covers the majority of blends, but we may adjust this dependant on how long the blend will take. All costs will be agreed with you when you place your order. The minimum quantity is 500gms. Listed below are some of our regular blends which have a fixed price rate.

Please be aware that there may be a slight delay when processing the order, as the fibre is being created to your specifications.
