All the wheels can be tried out at Wentworth where they are on display. We will give advice and demonstrations on the various types of wheel.

We have been selling Ashford wheels for 30 years and have a thorough understanding of them. We carry stocks of all the products so that they are available" off the shelf". There are the infrequent times when we have been busy and demand overtakes supply so please check before coming to collect a wheel or other equipment.

If you are having a look at this page to check prices to compare with other retailers then let us know if you find a better deal. That is one which the total cost of purchase including carriage etc is lower. We may be able to match the price or even do better: we make no promises, but if you don't ask you don't get!

Also a note of caution if you are buying from a "popular auction site". There may indeed be some good deals about, however, we often see Ashford products with parts missing or some not even Ashford being sold as such which then become expensive to sort out. There are many good buys but you should be completely satisfied that the description is of a fully working wheel. We strongly advise not to purchase an unknown make, new or old unless you have the skills to undertake repairs and maintainence. Something as simple as not having having a full set of bobbins can make some wheels un-useable.

If you are planning to visit Wentworth to purchase and get advice about wheels and equipment please telephone us first. We have all the items in stock and can sell them to you but a few times a year we do not have anyone who can demonstrate as they are all out at workshops. It does not happen often but we do not want you dissapointed that there is no one here to demonstrate.

The Traditional

The Traditional wheel represents one of the most fantastic all-rounders. It's easy to use for learning, and you can then buy simple add-on kits that allow you to adapt the wheel to specific types of spinning as you begin to experiment more.
It is available in single or double drive,  4 bobbins and Lazy Kate are included in the kit.
As you can see, it is also a classically styled wheel made from beautiful New Zealand Silver beech, so it will look great in your home.

Traveller

The Traveller with scotch tension is a great little wheel that suits most spinners.  Like the Traditional you can buy "add on" kits that allow you to adapt the wheel to your specific spinning needs (most of the add on's for the Traditional will fit). If you collect the complete set of kits, you will have a wheel that will spin almost any type of yarn you can imagine.
With the Traveller you also have the bonus of portability.  The wheel has been designed to fit snuggly into the boot of your car, so it's easy to take it with you to workshops, and spin-ins.
The wheel is made from solid New Zealand Silver Beech and comes complete with 4 bobbins, threading hook, learn to spin booklet, and built in lazy kate.

Kiwi

If you're learning or teaching, the Kiwi is the right wheel for you.  The double treadle makes spinning more comfortable, it also makes it easier to stop and start.
There are "add on" kits available that allow you to adapt the wheel to spin different types of yarn. An added bonus is the super low price. 
The wheel is made from solid Medium Density Fiberboard (mdf)with a New Zealand Silver Beech frame.

Wheel now supplied with ball bearings for smooth easy treadling.

Elizabeth 2

Straight out of a fairy tale, the Elizabeth will look beautiful in your home, as well as being a fantastic wheel. The twelve spoke wheel and intricate turnings are crafted from New Zealand Silver Beech - for a truly elegant wheel.

Electric

If you are wanting to spin large amounts of yarn, perhaps for a small cottage industry, or if you have trouble treadling, the electronic may be your best choice.
It has a silent motor and a large range of flyer speeds from 0-1500RPM, so it is suitable for all skill levels.  Hand controls allow you to easily turn the motor off and on, change speed and direction.
It comes to you assembled and lacquered, and is made from New Zealand Silver Beech.
