Spinning Courses with Ruth Gough

Ruth is one of the very few professional handspinners in the UK having been spinning for over 40 years. Along with running the Wingham Wool Work business she has been teaching spinning and producing her own yarns for all of this time. Ruth has worked with hundreds of students throughout the UK and Europe teaching spinning to groups at their own venues as well as at the business base of Wingham Wool Work in Wentworth, South Yorkshire.

Her ability to make the technical side of spinning understandable and simple is much in demand. Much of her work follows the technical side of handspinning with clear and concise explanation and instruction. The belief is that for quality production of yarns a working knowledge of yarn structure and wheel use is neccessary. This knowledge then enables control of the end product and further development of skills.
Courses are structured to the individual needs of the students from absoloute beginners to the production of precisely designed yarns.

Workshops at Wentworth take place in our fully equipped spinning area. There is a choice of wheels to work with if you dont want to bring your own, plus hand and drum carders. All materials are provided free of charge.
